Meet the Future of AI: Generative AI and Democracy

Following the success of last year’s event and the subsequent White Paper, researchers involved in the EU-funded AI and disinformation cluster projects AI4MediaTitanvera.ai, AI4Trust, AI4Debunk and AI-CODE have collaborated to hold the second edition of the “Meet the Future of AI” conference

The 2024 iteration, titled “Meet the Future of AI: Generative AI and Democracy”, took place in Brussels on June 19. This event explored the profound impact of GenAI on our society, discussing both the promises and perils it poses for democratic processes.

Topics of debate included the use of AI for and against disinformation, its perception by media professionals and citizens, the relevant regulatory landscape, and the huge potential of Generative AI as a basis for fighting disinformation.

Our colleagues Pascaline Gaborit from Pilot4DEV, Kevin El Haddad from UMONS, Jan Kragt from Innovative Power, and Franc van der Bent from HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht attended on behalf of AI4Debunk.

The event was filled with engaging presentations and dynamic interactions with partners from our synergy projects. A summary of the talks can be found in this vera.ai blog post
