The AI4Debunk consortium successfully held its second General Assembly on March 27-28, 2025, at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) in Spain. The two-day event combined strategic planning with a exploration of the technological and policy foundations necessary for tackling disinformation.
The Assembly started with a welcome from host Dr. Axel Brando Guillaumes of BSC, opening remarks from Prof. Dr. Iveta Reinholde, and an introduction by Prof. Inna Šteinbuka.
A key highlight was the guided tour of the BSC’s Mare Nostrum 5 supercomputer . This impressive infrastructure, a powerhouse driving AI innovation in Europe, provided a tangible link between the project’s complex computational needs and cutting-edge technology.
Day 1 focused on internal alignment, covering:
-
Project Updates & Cross-WP Alignment: Reviewing progress and ensuring integrated collaboration.
-
Dissemination and Exploitation: Sessions included an intense Exploitation Workshop and strategy discussions on communication and impact.
-
Policy and Innovation: Focused discussions explored the intersection of disinformation, AI innovations, and current EU policy actions.

The second day, March 28, featured the Mini-Symposium on AI & Platform Governance. This session brought together leading experts in AI governance, digital security, and policy-making.
The experts engaged in discussions on the most pressing challenges in safeguarding trust, security, and democratic values in the digital space. This symposium provided the consortium with valuable external insights and context for ensuring their technological solutions are developed within a robust, ethical, and policy-aligned framework.
The General Assembly in Barcelona proved to be a critical junction for AI4Debunk, successfully finalizing strategic roadmaps and benefiting from expert perspectives on the crucial topic of platform governance. The consortium left the BSC energized and aligned for the next phase of its mission to build tools against disinformation.
